We all shared the idea that the annual World Aids Day program in Amsterdam was missing a specific and exuberant closing event, so a group of people decided to come together in the fall of 2003. As a result the first Lovedance - also the closing of the ‘Take Care - Living PositHiv’ action week at the time - took place on the first of December and the enthusiastic response made it immediately clear that this could not remain just a one-off affair.
On the 21 of October 2004 Lovedance became a registered non-profit organisation to ensure that from then on Lovedance would take place every year.
Lovedance is unique because of the combination of knowledge, creativity and enthusiasm of it’s members, each with his or hers own speciality and background. ‘We all put the good cause first and our own interests last, that’s what makes it so special.’

party
The annual party in Paradiso is a musical, theatrical, chaotic and hilarious finish to a day dedicated to a harsh reality. It’s where ‘reflecting upon’ turns into ‘dancing with’ each other.
Expect a night full of surprising acts, performances, bands and djs. Everyone’s giving it their best efforts, most of them completely unpaid.
In 2010 some of our members started 'World Aids Night' . We asked several clubs to join our cause. In that way we aimed to appeal to as large an audience as possible, and whip up as much attention too. Now, yearly almost 10 of Amsterdam's most important clubs join this night and organise special parties on december 1 to raise awareness and money for the Dutch Aids Foundation.
